The Economics of Happiness (film)
Submitted by Nicola Terry on Mon, 16/01/2012 - 11:24Have you seen this film? I watched it a while back to see if it is suitable as a Transition film. It is all about the evils of globalisation including climate change, economic insecurity , misuse of resources and species extinction - as well as the personal costs such as stress and depression - and the benefits of localisation.

The Powerdown Show/ The Turning Point Wed 19th October.
Submitted by Nicola Terry on Mon, 10/10/2011 - 15:56I see the Arts Picturehouse is offering a double bill of films about Peak Oil and the Transition Towns movement next Wednesday 19th October. What I like about Transition films is the inspiration they convey, showing what can be achieved when community spirit combines with positive vision generating practical action. Its about small projects combining together towards a coherent strategy. These films aren't just about extraordinary individuals or fringe communities.

I'm in print!
Submitted by Nicola Terry on Tue, 28/06/2011 - 07:45I didn't tell anyone until relatively recently, in case the project turned into an embarassing failure but it seems to be going OK and I am now a published author. My book is called 'Energy and Carbon Emissions: the way we live today' and it has lots of stuff about our usage and emissions, heat loss from houses, energy and carbon in food, transport (how much more we travel than we used to and a third of that is leisure not for work!) renewable energy and other stuff. I was asked yesterday how I chose what to put in - the answer is I chose what I find interesting.

Entrepreneurs Fast Track: support for early stage low carbon companies
Submitted by anne miller on Fri, 30/07/2010 - 10:35The Carbon Trust is launching an ‘Entrepreneurs’ Fast Track’ scheme. Applications open in September 2010
This looks as if it will be more useful for most Green Enterprise members than the previous scheme, as it's giving more emphasis to supporting early stage proof of concept and prototype development, rather than just focussing companies that are nearly ready for major VC investment. The scheme will also consolidate its existing Applied Research Grants and Business Incubation products into one service.
