A Greener Way to use IT?

Pranav Mistry demos several tools that help the physical world interact with the world of data -- including a deep look at his SixthSense device and a new, paradigm-shifting paper "laptop.

This idea seemingly has the potential to significantly reduce the hardware required to interface with technology but does it represent greener IT?

Virtual Tourism

Whether this IT is greener or not depends I think on how much energy it needs - projectors are getting more efficient but I don't know how powerful it would have to be to work in a range of lighting conditions. However, I am sure there are applications where IT can be used to save energy overall - for example virtual tourism replacing physical travel. I have been sitting on this fragment of a story I wrote some months ago and I haven't worked out what to do with it but it is supposed to be about tourism in the 2050s.
