I am a physicist interested in renewable energy and architecture.

I have joined the Green Enterprise Community because I have very little understanding of commerce. I hope that by mixing with others who are further along this road I will begin to identify the positive features of engaging in business. From the outside it looks really grim.

I have mainly worked in scientific instruments, most notably with Oxford Instruments and with a spin-out called Arkex. These are exotic systems using superconducting technology to make extremely fine measurements and in the case of Arkex we are developing a gravity gradiometer used in oil prospecting. Its not green but it pays the bills.

I am a member of the Association for Environment Conscious Buildings and an Associate of Cambridge Architectural Research. My ambition is to retrofit my house to a superinsulated standard and then to propagate the skills and associated benefits as part of a national movement.
